A New Mind and Heart

Online Sessions with Cynthia Overweg
Third Saturdays of the month, August – December, 11 am PT / 2 pm ET

“The human crisis is so extraordinary, so intricate,
so subtle, that it urgently demands that we have
a new mind and a new heart.”

J.Krishnamurti
The Urgency of Change

If there was ever a time for a new mind and heart, it’s now. A harmonious and compassionate world is something we all long for, but what is required of us?  We know the answer intellectually — we need a radical inner transformation. But the intellect is not going to transform us.

This monthly series explores what a new mind and heart point to, and together we’ll engage with this transformative possibility. Each of our 90 minute explorations includes a presentation, intervals of silence, sacred music and body relaxation. There will also be time for open sharing in a supportive space of fellowship we co-create as a group.

Monthly Themes:

August: Beyond Violence: Our world is violent. We see it and we want it to end. In referring to the pervasiveness of violence, Krishnamurti said: “I want to live a peaceful life in which there is an abundance of love ― all the violence must go. Now what have I to do?” We’ll explore this question.

September: The Ultimate Relationship: We can see who we are in any given moment in “the mirror of relationship.” Yesterday, today and tomorrow are reflected back to us in that mirror, and our conditioning is visible and audible. What we learn from this relationship can change us.

October: Compassion & Indifference: For compassion to be fully embodied in a human being, Krishnamurti said a “mutation must take place in the very seed of thought itself.” How are we to approach such a statement?

November: Beauty and the Sacred: Without the sensitivity to perceive beauty, self-transformation is only an idea. What is the relationship between beauty and the Sacred?

December: Dying and Living:  Dying is part of living, yet we divide them. How can we reconcile this? “If I learn how to live, I also learn how to die,” said Krishnamurti. This suggests that a new mind and heart is one, an undivided wholeness of being in which there is love.

The Facilitator:

Cynthia Overweg facilitates retreats and workshops that focus on inner silence and the possibility of self-transformation. She draws a great deal of inspiration from the teachings of Krishnamurti and Ramana Maharshi. Cynthia is the author of  Silent Awareness: The Revelation that Changes Everything.
