A Different Way of Living
This residential weekend dialogue retreat will take place July 23-25, 2010 at the Swanwick Centre in a spectacular 32 acre ocean-front setting in Metchosin, near Victoria, B.C. The retreat includes videotaped sessions of J. Krishnamurti in dialogue with Professor Allan Anderson, some of them never before shown in public.
J. Krishnamurti (www.jkrishnamurti.org) spoke throughout his life in many parts of the world to large audiences as well as with numerous individuals, including writers, scientists, philosophers and educators. Asked to describe what lay at the heart of his teaching, he said: “Truth is a pathless land. Man cannot come to it through any organization, through any creed, through any dogma, priest or ritual, nor through any philosophic knowledge or psychological technique. He has to find it through the mirror of relationship, through the understanding of the contents of his own mind, through observation and not through intellectual analysis or introspective dissection.”
At a time of unprecedented outer change in the political, economic and social atmospheres, is there a fundamental inner change that is demanded of each one of us? In these dialogues with Professor Allan W. Anderson, Emeritus Professor of Religious Studies at San Diego State University, J. Krishnamurti indicates that basing our hopes on organized religion, science, political ideology or the market economy not only fails to address basic human problems but actually creates them. The way out of our difficulties, Krishnamurti states, can only start in the mind of each one of us, in awareness of the way we actually perceive life, ourselves and others.
