Delve into the rich spiritual fabric of Buddhism, complemented by the insights of J. Krishnamurti, a 20th century Indian philosopher and spiritual teacher, while communing with nature at Swanwick Centre.
In this retreat Hillary will draw upon a combination of his knowledge and personal experience to focus on Buddhist philosophies and the teachings of J. Krishnamurti. In this non-academic retreat, Hillary will situate his talks within the broader historical context of Indian philosophies. One component of the retreat is to guide participants through key features of Buddhism, providing them with useful information, while simultaneously pointing to linkages within the teachings of J. Krishnamurti. The retreat will be of interest to those gripped with the complexities of transformative insight, as well as those who are curious about the nature of spiritual awakening.
On Friday evening, Hillary will provide a talk and Q&A session at the Church of Truth entitled “Meditation and Insight” as a prelude to a Retreat he will be holding on the following Saturday and Sunday at the Swanwick Centre of Self Inquiry. The talk will discuss various notions of meditation, and their relationship to the attainment of pivotal transformative insight in the teachings of J. Krishnamurti.
Please note, this retreat is presented in two parts. Part 1 will take place in the form of a public introductory session on Friday evening, 7:30 pm, at the Victoria Church of Truth at 111 Superior Street. Retreat participants will overnight at Swanwick Centre and reconvene there on Saturday morning (through to Sunday afternoon) for Part 2.
