Join an inquiry into human consciousness and its transformation with renowned teacher J.Krishnamurti, in a series of recorded talks referred to by author Aldous Huxley as: "It was like listening to a discourse of the Buddha – such power, such intrinsic authority."
Eckhart Tolle and Deepak Chopra are among many teachers, scientists and others who have been deeply affected by his teaching.
At a time of unprecedented outer change in the political, economic and social atmospheres, is there a fundamental inner change that is demanded of each one of us? Join us on a weekend residential retreat on the breathtaking grounds of Swanwick Centre to ponder this question and enter into a new, revitalizing relationship with yourself and the world through the teachings of J. Krishnamurti.
J. Krishnamurti teaches that basing our hopes on organized religion, science, political ideology or the market economy not only fails to address basic human problems, but actually creates them. The way out of our difficulties, Krishnamurti states, can only start in the mind of each one of us, in awareness of the way we actually perceive life, others and ourselves.
This retreat covers such themes as:
· Fear and Desire
· The Ending of Conflict
· Responsibility & Relationships
· The Art of Listening
· Meditation & the Sacred
Activities
DVDs of a series of Krishnamurti's talks in England in 1978 will be accompanied by dialogues and other supporting activities. In the dialogues we explore the nature and limits of self, mind and thought, and the possibility of a different way of living.
More About J. Krishnamurti
J. Krishnamurti spoke throughout his life in many parts of the world to large audiences as well as with numerous individuals, including writers, scientists, philosophers and educators. Asked to describe what lay at the heart of his teaching, he said:
"Truth is a pathless land. Man cannot come to it through any organization, through any creed, through any dogma, priest or ritual, nor through any philosophic knowledge or psychological technique. He has to find it through the mirror of relationship, through the understanding of the contents of his own mind, through observation and not through intellectual analysis or introspective dissection.”
A Supportive Environment
The Centre’s beautiful natural setting is ideally suited for deeper inquiry and insight. To optimize this process and minimize distractions, silence is recommended during part of the retreat.
