FACING A WORLD IN CRISIS
An Online Event of Self-inquiry and Meditative Dialogues, with Mukesh Gupta
25 – 30 June, 2020 (Six Sessions) from 4:30 – 6:30 pm, Pacific Daylight Time
As the crisis is unprecedented there must also be unprecedented action, which means that the regeneration of the individual must be instantaneous, not a process of time. It must take place now, not tomorrow; for tomorrow is a process of disintegration. If I think of transforming myself tomorrow I invite confusion, I am still within the field of destruction. Is it possible to change now?
J. Krishnamurti The First and Last Freedom
Introduction: As human beings we are going through an unprecedented global crisis in the recent modern times… This is a crisis at every level of our existence. The only thing which looks certain now is this ever growing uncertainty and helplessness… At the same time this may be a great opportunity for a far deeper learning, an inward cleansing, for our collective existence on this planet…This crisis could be turned into an invitation for an inward journey and transformation. We may realize the futility and temporary nature of everything that is non-essential that we have gathered inside as well as outside…This is a time to breathe, to sit back and rest deeply, to surrender to “what is” and to allow this inward healing to happen. These times can also be a time of inward crisis for many of us. We may feel a real need to share or open-up our hearts and minds with complete trust and unconditional listening without any fear of judgment. These online sessions are meant for this kind of deeper sharing and listening. We are going to explore together some of the fundamental questions of our day to day living in a relaxed, meditative, trustful and affectionate atmosphere:
- In these most challenging times what does it mean to be sane, alive and awake?
- What are the deep-rooted patterns of human mind which constantly generate suffering for one-self and for others?
- Is it possible to end these mechanical-habitual patterns of our day-to-day living so that love and compassion can freely flow in our lives?
- Can the mind be ever quiet and live peacefully with “what is” without escaping into past or future?
- Can the mind stop struggling to become something all the time and rest and therefore regenerate or heal itself naturally…?
Venue: In these Zoom meetings you can participate from wherever you are. Please note that the time indicated is Pacific Daylight Time and will need to be adjusted for other time zones!
Facilitator:
Mukesh Gupta has been exploring the teachings of J. Krishnamurti, Buddha and other teachers for more than two decades while living in Varanasi, India. He regularly facilitates self-enquiry retreats, workshops and dialogues around fundamental questions of life as a friend and a fellow-traveler in India, Europe, Israel, US, Canada and wherever he is invited. He believes in exploring a deep non-authoritarian meditative process of dialogue based on mutual love, respect and a quality of silence as a way to create a peaceful, non-violent society.
