SPECIAL EVENT
Since Greek and Roman times, vita contemplativa (the contemplative life) and vita activa (the active life) have been a fundamental duality in Western civilization. In our times, this underlying mentality has, to a significant degree, produced a chasm of worldviews and ways of life. In bringing together both ‘types’ (acknowledging that most people have both impulses), can we ignite shared insight and action at this critical juncture? The facilitator for this event is Martin LeFevre, a religious and political philosopher and writer living in California. He was fortunate to have attended a number of Krishnamurti’s talks in Ojai, and to have dialogued with David Bohm in the late 1980’s, who critiqued and advised him on his philosophical work at the time. He has been working with the principals of the UN University for Peace over the last year to bring about dialogues on the UPEACE campus in Costa Rica entitled, “Psychological Revolution and the Emergence of an Effective Global Polity?
