What is Meditation?
Date: Feb 21-23, 2014 (Fri. evening to Sun. afternoon)
Facilitator: Lynne Walker
Cost: by donation
This retreat, hosted by Lynne Walker, provides an opportunity to find out for oneself, in a quiet environment, if there is anything that can be done in order to know what meditation is.
Can a self know this state?
Can we prepare for it in any useful way?
How does 'meditating' affect living?
What is awaring presence?
What is thought, imagination, memory?
Are we meditating when we inquire together?
To this end, lots of personal time is allowed for, as well as communal two hour gatherings:
10-noon, 2-4pm, 7-9pm from Fri evening until Sunday afternoon.
During these gatherings we may sit quietly, walk outside, listen to audio talks by Toni Packer, hear selected readings from Krishnamurti and possibly Joan Tollifson, watch a Krishnamurti video and hold meditative dialogues.
Participants are free to join in as they wish for a full 2 hours, by donation. Please arrive before these designated times and respect the intentionally quiet atmosphere other than in dialogue periods.
Both day commuters and overnighters are welcome, the latter for a specially discounted rate of $40/night. We do not want to exclude anyone with financial challenges, so please contact us in that case.
Please note that meals are not provided for this retreat, so participants need to bring their own food. It can however be prepared or warmed up at the Centre. There is also a restaurant nearby.
Overnight stays need to be booked in advance! To do so, please contact ralph@swanwickcentre.ca.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS RETREAT HAS BEEN RESCHEDULED DUE TO ILLNESS. PLEASE CHECK WITH LYNNE AT THE ABOVE LINK REGARDING NEW DATES.
