CENTRED SELF WITHOUT BEING SELF-CENTRED

An online workshop with Ravi Ravindra
April 22-24, 2022  (Fri- Sun: 9 am PT/12 noon ET/6 pm GMT)

In any spiritual teaching, whether from Krishna or the Buddha or the Christ or in modern times from Gurdjieff or Krishnamurti, there is a strong emphasis on the necessity of self-inquiry and freedom from the self.   For example, Christ said, “Unless you leave your self behind, you cannot be a follower of mine.”  Sometimes other words are used instead of ‘self,’ such as ‘ego’ or ‘I’.  Similarly Krishnamurti said, “As long as I am, love is not.” So when love is there, I am not, but something or some being is there on whom love or truth has descended.  What remains when the self is left behind or the I is not?

Whether we like it or not, we are obliged to look at the many levels of the self—from the completely selfish me-me-me to whatever we mean when we speak of someone being self-less or self-sacrificing.  What self is known and by which self? In this workshop we will explore the various levels of the self and their proper place for survival in the world and for freedom from the forces of fear and hankering running the world.
