EXPOSING OURSELVES TO OURSELVES

A dialogue workshop with Jackie McInley
April 21-23, 2023  (Fri – Sun:  10 am PT, 1 pm ET, 19:00 CET)

Do I see my life through the prism of thoughts and emotions that are deeply conditioned in me? Can I be aware of, learn and inquire into this conditioning?
In our online weekend workshop we will be exploring together the living presence of this conditioning: exposing the facts of ourselves, to ourselves. Our inquiry will need attentive listening, thinking for ourselves, careful examination of the questions raised and a friendly spirit between us. Is it possible to inquire together beyond everyday opinions, conclusions and unseen automatic reaction that distorts this inquiry?
Our workshop is not a “class” that intends to build further knowledge of ourselves or indeed of Krishnamurti’s teaching. We will not be analysing or dissecting the causes of our reactions or seeking solutions: I discover that analysing and satisfying myself with descriptions, only avoids and postpones the actual uncovering of what I am.
Without a moment spent postponing can we be directly aware of the resistance and the defences that are “choicelessly” occurring, as together we question our conditioning and expose ourselves to ourselves?

“One must ask questions because in asking questions of ourselves, we are exposing ourselves to ourselves. And you may not want to do that in public because we are rather vain – ‘I don’t want to show my stupidity, so I will let somebody else ask the questions.’ ….. And that is the beauty of asking a question, so that you expose your own mind and heart to yourself. But generally, one is frightened to expose oneself to oneself.”
J. Krishnamurti

The Facilitator:

Jackie McInley founded and ran an independent Krishnamurti centre called Open Door in Southern France from 2004 until 2013 – hosting monthly inquiry weekends and annual international gatherings in French and English. She organized an experimental David Bohm bi-monthly dialogue meeting for 4 years in a local market town, and later a Krishnamurti dialogue group in the city of Toulouse.

A former self-employed, foreign language and theatre teacher by profession (schools, higher education and business), she now organises and facilitates inquiry events, gatherings and retreats in a variety of countries and cultures around the world. She also visits, facilitates dialogues and gives talks in the Krishnamurti Foundations, centres & schools in USA, UK and India.

Jackie does not follow any particular spiritual teaching but is deeply interested in the investigative talks & dialogues of J.Krishnamurti as a mirror and friend to her own constant inner inquiry.
