THE INTELLIGENCE OF THE HEART

THE INTELLIGENCE OF THE HEART

An Online Exploration with Hillary Rodrigues
3 Sessions: August 28-30, 2020 (Fri – Sun: 4 pm Pacific Time, 7 pm EST)

The Theme

Most people value intelligence over ignorance. We typically think of intelligence as knowledge or the effective use of our intellects, our rational minds. However, excessive emphasis on our faculty of thinking may be problematic, causing us to ignore other aspects of the fullness of our human nature.  Krishnamurti sometimes uses the unusual expression “mind in the heart” as a pointer to true intelligence. This quote will serve as a springboard for our weekend inquiry.

In understanding the nature of love, having that quality, which is mind in the heart, that is intelligence. Intelligence has nothing whatsoever to do with thought, with cleverness, with knowledge. . . .  When there is intelligence, there is no me and you. And intelligence does not abide in your heart or your mind. That intelligence which is supreme is everywhere. It is that intelligence that moves the earth and the heavens and the stars, because that is compassion.

J. Krishnamurti

What:
The Series consists of three late afternoon 90-minute sessions that will focus on the following themes: a) What is knowledge? b) What is intelligence? c) What is the intelligence of the heart?  This is not a series of academic talks, but an opportunity to inquire together into the awakening of intelligence and compassion

Format: Each session will begin with a short talk by Hillary, followed by a dialogue. A key feature of the talks and dialogues is the opportunity to engage in self-awareness over intellectual analysis.

When:  The Series is a unit.  It runs on Friday (Aug 28), Saturday (Aug 29), and Sunday (Aug 30) from 4 – 5:30 pm Pacific Time.  Recordings will be available for persons unable to attend a session or wishing to review it.
