EXPLORING ATTACHMENT

 

Attachments to people, possessions, ideas are fundamental to my life. I love my attachments. And they tend to define me. Why question that?

Attachments come with a subtle or distinct fear of loss. They also come with unconscious promises: A promise to quell lonliness? A promise to bring happiness? Understanding? Love?

When attachments falter in their delivery on promises we suffer. 

Krishnamurti wrote; “There can only be relationship between two human beings when we accept “What is” and not “What should be”.”

We can inquire into the unseen motivators of attachment and relationship that drive us, including escape from fear, loneliness and emptiness. 

 

Anyone deeply interested in self-exploration for inner peace and freedom, is welcome to join our talks and dialogue meetings, guided by experienced facilitators passionate about self-inquiry and a shift in consciousness.

 

The Facilitator:

vala facilitatorThe magnetism of Krishnamurti’s words is irresistible to me. Over the years, a shift in sight has radically illuminated relationships, beliefs, and the exhausting maintenance of “me”.

Vala believes that Krishnamurti’s teachings throw psychology, art and “self- actualization” into a new light and open dimensions on what it means to “understand oneself”. Vala’s intensive study of Krishnamurti has an additional focus on inquiry into trauma. Vala Legan is a practicing Marriage and Family Therapist and Art Therapist, specializing in trauma and attachment.

She has published 18 children’s books as an illustrator, as well as illustrating over 30 national magazines and newspapers (www.valakondolegan.com).

 

 

As resource we will be using  The Book of Life, a collection of daily meditations by J. Krishnamurti. It is available online and from us at cost for $20.

The Book of Life e-book is also freely available here and looking it over for questions to further explore in our meetings is recommended.

We particularly recommend the readings on Attachment (March 8 – 14) before our meeting.

Meetings are held on a donation basis.  Your donation can be made here .

They will be held in the Boardroom of the Esquimalt Gorge Park Pavilion.  The Pavilion is located in this beautiful park, next to a Japanese Garden.

 

Enter from Tillicum Road. There is ample parking next to the Pavilion.

Or take #26 bus to Tillicum at Gorge Bridge stop, with a 5 minute walk from there to the Pavilion.
